Johnny DalBasso takes no prisoners with these classic, strong, and inventive tunes. If you want something to snap you out of a dreary mood, give these songs a spin and wake the hell up! This is hard driving, enthusiastic rock that isn’t repetitive of anything else out there. Great rock, and highly addictive. Bravo! Favorite track: Senza nome.

Dopo l’uscita nel 2019 dell’album “Cannonball” e del fortunato CannonballTour, Johnny DalBasso ritorna nel 2022 con “Lo Stato Canaglia”. Il titolo del disco richiama l’espressione “Rogue State”, con la quale vari presidenti americani hanno appellato gli Stati non allineati al pensiero filo-occidentale, espressione che diventa incipit per riflettere sui vari significati della parola “stato” intesa sia come istituzione, sia come descrizione di una condizione passata e presente, ma anche lo stato che postiamo quasi ogni giorno sui social-media, inondando con pensieri non richiesti questo non luogo, che è internet, dove incontrarci e scontrarci; la seconda parola è “canaglia”, che sembra ormai l’appellativo per tutto ciò che è contro e diverso da noi, per tutto ciò che per ignoranza o per volere vogliamo screditare.
Il sound del disco passa dal punk più scarno, allo stoner, fino a composizioni più articolate con l’ingresso di fiati, pianoforti e sintetizzatori. I testi parlano di evasioni, decisioni azzardate, dubbi, libertà oltre ogni costrizione, rivolte interiori e fughe romantiche. Oltre le mode, oltre i confini stabiliti e le indagini di mercato, in questo 2022 in cui la guerra, l’isolamento sociale, l’inefficacia della politica, un individualismo e una suscettibilità senza precedenti dilagano, esce “Lo Stato Canaglia”, che è allo stesso tempo un disco, un luogo mentale e un Paese in cui vivere tutte le contraddizioni di questo tempo.
